Frequently Asked Questions
Before You Buy
-
What gauge are the liners? We at Vinyl Liner Direct prefer to speak in "mil", or thousandths of an inch. 20 Gauge liners purchased on various websites contain liners made from 10 mil to 12 mil materials. Therefore, the majority of aboveground liners sold are 17 mil materials, or 30 Gauge equivalency, or 20 mil materials for 35 Gauge equivalency.
-
What are the warranties on aboveground liners?Aboveground liners are backed by a one-year limited warranty by the manufacturer. The warranty does not cover staining, fading, etc. but does cover manufacturing defects, or where the liner is seamed together.
-
How long does it take to get my liner made?Liners for ingrounds that do not have liner-covered features, such as steps, ledges, and benches, are typically manufactured in two to five days. Liner-covered features typically increase production time 24 hours per feature.
-
Do 27 mil liners last longer than 20 mil liners? This question is not easily answered, as there are a number of factors that are involved. The raw materials used to make the vinyl play a factor, as well as how the water chemistry is kept in your pool. All liners are chemically treated for a variety of issues to make them last as long as possible. Anything that will puncture a 20 mil liner will puncture a 27 mil liner.
-
How long does it take to process a return?Returned items must be reinspected, reboxed, etc. and can take from one to two weeks.
-
What is the warranty on my above ground liner?Aboveground pool liners are backed by a one-year limited manufacturer warranty, protecting your pool liner from fabrication defects, such as seam separations, and should be reported within the first 30 (thirty) days of receiving the product.
-
What is the warranty on my in ground liner?Inground pool liners are backed by a twenty-five-year prorated manufacturer warranty, protecting your pool liner from fabrication defects, such as seam separations, and should be reported within the first 30 (thirty) days of receiving the product.
-
Does my warranty cover fading, staining or chemical damage? The warranty coverage does not include surface staining, fading of print, or damage caused by misuse of chemicals, fire, ice damage, improper cleaning, accidents, negligence, misuse, or abuse. It also does not cover damage or defects of the liner which result from insects, animals, floods, or other acts of God.
-
Does my warranty cover installation damage? The consumer also understands that damage caused during installation, whether personal or by a third-party installer, is the responsibility of the consumer. Repairs or modifications made to the liner, either by the consumer or by a third party, void the original manufacturer's warranty. Vinyl Liners Direct is also not responsible for any payment of utilities, such as water, electricity, and sewer, as well as labor or loss of use.
-
Does my warranty cover seam seperation? The manufacturer's warranty covers fabrication issues, especially seam separations that would cause the pool to leak. See the image below to understand what a seam separation looks like. In the event a seam separation is found, please contact sales@vinyllinersdirect.com. Send pictures of the separation in your email, along with the serial number of the liner. We will contact you for warranty processing.
-
How long does it take to receive my liner? Most aboveground liners take two to three days to be produced unless they are in-stock items available through the manufacturer. Most aboveground liners weigh under 150 pounds and can be shipped via UPS Ground in two to three days. If the liner weighs more than 150 pounds, the liner must be shipped via LTL Freight and can vary depending on the Freightline, but usually take 10-14 days.
-
Can I have my liner expedited? We can certainly expedite your liner's shipping! For more information and pricing, please contact us.
-
My liner arrived, and I can see visible damage. How do I get that taken care of?You are able to refuse the package in many cases. If the package was delivered while you were not available, take pictures and contact us ASAP!
-
What should I expect in my package? All liner shipments contain the liner, and inground liners will contain a warranty and safety package. This additional package includes important information, stickers, and chemical reinforcement products.
